The Effects of Blue Light on the Skin

Here at Stella Alvina Studios, we are all about combatting the signs of aging and protecting your skin. When it comes to skin health, we cannot ignore the effects of blue light. We have all heard how Blue Light can affect the eyes, but it’s not common knowledge how it affects our skin as well.

Blue Light is a high-energy visible light emitted from electronic devices, indoor lighting, and the sun. Blue Light penetrates deeper into the skin than Uv-rays, and therefore causes damage over time. With so much time spent in front of the computer at work, home, and school, as well as artificial lighting in the workplace, this is a concern if you would like to prevent damaged and aged skin!

Blue light penetrates the skin and generates free radicals leading to oxidative stress, inflammation, and accelerated aging as well as the breakdown of collagen and elastin. This breakdown in collagen and elastin leads to fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Unfortunately, blue light may also worsen pigmentation issues leading to uneven skin tone. Yikes!

Fortunately, you can help protect your skin with quality skin care products containing antioxidants and SPF. We believe that Circadia is the best product line to help prevent free radical damage, improve your current skin condition, and protect your skin moving forward.
